Well Design and Engineering combines all key well design technologies, from pre-spud to TD. Participants are actively involved in all aspects of the technical tasks necessary to achieve a cost-effective and well-planned project, while also getting significant insight into how the whole process should be handled in a dynamic team setting. The workshop curriculum is frequently tailored to address technology and techniques unique to a project or operating context. The course delivery is carefully calibrated to include technical lectures and group discussions, with around half of each day set aside for teams to apply what they have learned on the well-designed project.
The workshop's single most essential purpose is to demonstrate the connections between the design issues and to leave attendees with the awareness that each decision has an impact on those that follow. The intensity increases as the course advances, and each design subject builds on the one that came before. Design revisions are frequently necessary, especially as the course develops and apparently unconnected decisions force teams into positions of uncomfortable operational risk. On the final day, each team showcases their completed design to the class and an invited panel of industry specialists.
