This course focuses on conventional reservoirs.
The course covers how capillarity impacts hydrocarbon distribution in reservoir rocks, as well as how the magnitude of capillary forces may be utilised to derive useful information about rock parameters such as pore throat widths, pore network architecture, porosity, and permeability. Several in-class tasks reinforce course material and allow students to get experience utilising capillary pressure data for reservoir characterisation. Exercises will be completed on a computer with spreadsheet software.
